LPG is the most sustainable of all fossil fuels. In fact, the gases produced by its combustion have reduced emissions of CO2 and other polluting substances such as carbon monoxide, unburnt hydrocarbons, sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, particulates or fine dust and volatile organic compounds.
Furthermore, LPG is not a greenhouse gas, it is not toxic, is not corrosive and in case of accidental leaks, does not pollute the soil, water and aquifers. In addition, the current LPG logistics infrastructures are widespread and do not require further investments.
From the “Comparative study on the emissions of gas, LPG, diesel and pellet appliances” in 2016 carried out by Innovhub – Experimental station for fuels, it was found, in fact, that LPG has lower emissions of all the main polluting substances (CO, NOx, VOC, PM and IPA), as shown in the table below.
