Environmental Advantages:
LPG is the cleanest fuel, along with natural gas, among all the fossil fuels due to constant the technological innovation (production, transport, storage) that has brought the LPG product to have a low negative environmental impact.
In fact, the gases produced from its combustion have reduced emissions of:
• Carbon dioxide (CO2)
• Polluting substances (carbon monoxide, unburned hydrocarbons, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, particulate matter or soot, volatile organic compounds
The environmental advantages derive also from:
• ratio of carbon to hydrogen relatively low
• it is not toxic
• it is not corrosive
• in case of accidental losses of LPG it does not pollute soil, water, ground water
Moreover:
LPG handling is a closed loop thus the emissions of hydrocarbon vapors are negligible.
Since LPG is gaseous at ambient temperature and pressure, it does not cause, in the event of accidental release, water and soil pollution.
The lack of toxicity makes the GPL also suitable for use without combustion, such as the propellant for spray cans.
The LPG and its derivatives have substituted since long time (Montreal Protocol) the CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons) previously used in aerosol sprays and in refrigeration circuits that have been among the major causes of the ozone hole.
